The thing that I really love about Tim O' Rourke is that he writes about something that, yes,you might have read about it hundreds of times before, but, he puts a new twist in that,and you see everything in a different way. In this book called Stilts, the first of the Tessa Dark trilogy, we find a world that has been distroyed. The few survivors are closed in a prison, where they where kept safe during the distraction, which left the world burned or still burning, and scorchers, former humans, living outside, burning everyone they touch. Tessa is in prison for a crime she did, but now she want to leave. There is an island that everyone is safe there and every year, two people, a man and a woman, are going to be the lucky ones to be taken there. And last year, Joe won. And Joe went.
